Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has been one of the most successful Hollywood stars over the last decade, having transitioned from wrestling to acting after a failed football career.
Strangely enough, The Rock’s career is managed by his ex-wife, Dany Garcia, though he has already tied the knot a second time.
Johnson and Garcia are now co-owners of the revamped XFL, with the former realizing his dream of becoming an owner in sports while the latter has become the first woman to co-own or have a major stake in a major American league.
Garcia’s management has seen Johnson flourish and, for a long time, his name was the biggest in Hollywood. Back in 2021, she revealed the one move that really made Dwayne into a mega-star on the back of his success in films such as The Mummy Returns, Longshot, Scorpion King, and Walking Tall.
The WWE superstar-turned-actor was represented by CAA before leaving in 2011 and Dany says leaving was one of the best decisions they ever made as it led to The Rock getting roles more suited to his style while allowing her to tap into the power of social media.
“We were represented by CAA in 2011, and the agent we had at that period of time was not the right match,” she told Marieclaire.com. “It was the beginning of our entrance into social media, and the person kept saying, ‘No, there’s only so many spokes in a wheel, and you don’t have to do that,’ and I was like, ‘No, I believe strongly that with social media, there’s a way to communicate with the audience and create a new media stream.
“We ended up calling Ari Emmanuel and we went over to William Morris Endeavor. I articulated my desire to create a corporation and enterprise around Johnson through multiple social media channels, and they just put everyone in place, and it was done.”

Johnson has since launched his own production company, Seven Bucks Productions, and, as mentioned above, is the new owner of the XFL.
The only thing Garcia regrets is not making the move sooner.
