WWE WrestleMania 40 is still seven and a half months away, but tickets to the big event have been selling at a historic pace.
According to Front Office Sports, more than 90,000 tickets for next year’s two-day event in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, have been sold. With a gate of $21.5 million, this is already an all-time record for WWE.
The milestone WrestleMania 40 event will be held at Lincoln Financial Field, the home of the NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles. This will also mark the fifth straight WrestleMania event to carry the two-day format, which began in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Next year will also mark the first WrestleMania event to take place in Philadelphia since 1999, when the event took place at the First Union Center. The headliner of that event was ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin vs. The Rock in a No DQ Match for the WWF Championship, in which Austin emerged victorious.
WrestleMania 39 took place at SoFi Stadium (home of the NFL’s Los Angeles Rams and Chargers) in Inglewood, California on the Apr. 1-2 weekend. The headliner of that event was Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship, which the former won.

Philadelphia has hosted its fair share of WWE pay-per-view events over the years, most recently Extreme Rules 2022 at the Wells Fargo Center last October. The Elimination Chamber 2020 PPV was also held at that venue.
