The late Bray Wyatt was serenaded by the WWE Universe on Friday night as company wrestlers all assembled as part of a heartfelt tribute following the shocking and untimely death of the popular star.
Wyatt, real name Windham Rotunda, passed away suddenly on Thursday at the age of 36, with Paul “Triple H” Levesque making the shocking announcement via Twitter after being informed by Windham’s father, Mike Rotunda.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful.com later divulged the cause of death, revealing he got permission from Rotunda’s family to report that the three-time World Champion’s passing was the result of a heart attack.
Rotunda had been away from WWE programming since February due to what the promotion said was an illness at the time. According to Sapp, Windham had been dealing with a heart issue that got a lot worse after he contracted COVID-19.
WWE honored their former star during Friday night’s episode of SmackDown, with current wrestlers on the brand gathering in front of a large screen while the crowd sang Wyatt’s theme song “He’s Got The Whole World” after chants of “Thank you, Bray.”
