All Elite Wrestling has fired CM Punk following a backstage altercation at All-In in London.
The termination comes on the back of a week-long investigation into a backstage altercation between Punk, real name Phil Brooks, and fellow wrestler Jack Perry. The incident in question took place at their most recent pay-per-view at Wembley Stadium, where Punk is reported to have thrown a punch at Perry, starting a fight moments before the show went live.
An investigation by the AEW Disciplinary Committee determined that Punk should be terminated immediately. AEW made the announcement today.
This isn’t the first such incident involving Punk. He and several other wrestlers, including Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks, were suspended for several weeks following a media scrum that’s now known as “Brawl Out.”
AEW notes that they thank Punk for his time with the company and that, while his contributions are important, the best course of action was to terminate him.
It is currently unknown what the future holds for Punk as this is the second major promotion he’s cut ties with.
