Las Vegas Aces rookie Kate Martin was offered a hysterical reminder of her teammates that she’s exactly that: A rookie.
Folks who have played sports at a high level know the reality of being a first-year player. Coaches and veteran players usually organize hazing/pranking and humorous jokes to form strong team bonds. This was the case with Kate Martin and her Las Vegas teammates.
On her Instagram story, star center A’ja Wilson posted a hilarious video of the Aces pranking Martin after a dinner a team by pretending that they were driving off on the team bus without her.
Kate Martin appears to catch on quickly as she sprints towards the bus and finally boards it, drawing cheers and laughter from her teammates in the process:

The Aces selected the Iowa product in the second round, 18th overall, in this year’s WNBA Draft. Over her first five games, Kate Martin has averaged 5.2 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game while shooting 35.3 percent from beyond the arc.
Martin and Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark led the Iowa Hawkeys to consecutive national championship game appearances in 2022 and 2023, where they lost to LSU and South Carolina, respectively.
Kate Martin & Las Vegas Aces Are Off To A Strong Start
The Las Vegas Aces have picked up right where they left off a year ago. The back-to-back WNBA Champions are once again dominating in the early going, boasting a 4-2 record heading into Wednesday night’s home tilt against the Dallas Wings.
Once again, A’ja Wilson is leading the way on offense with averages of 26.5 points and 12.5 rebounds per game. Jackie Young is also off to a dominant start with averages of 20.7 points and 7.7 assists per contest.
Heading into today’s action, the Aces sit fifth in the WNBA standings, 3.5 games behind the 9-0 Connecticut Sun.
