WNBA star Kelsey Plum has revealed the truth about her ethnicity, and it’s probably not what you think.
Lots of fans assume the Las Vegas Aces point guard is Puerto Rican, and she can certainly pass for one. She’s even been branded the “Puerto Rican Princess,” but she isn’t actually Puerto Rican.
Plum, 29, hails from Poway, California, and is Irish. She revealed the latter in a WNBA video this weekend.
“I’m not Puerto Rican,” she said. “I’m so sorry to let people down. I’m just white; I’m Irish, actually. I’m a proud Irish woman but I feel like I’m an ally to all communities but now in particular because I feel like I’ve been endeared by the community.
“I know we’re playing Puerto Rico in South Carolina, it feels a great fit. I’ve been called a Boriqua.
“Whatever y’all need me to be for you, I’m rocking. Right, let’s do it.”

Kelsey Plum Is Going Through A Difficult Time
While Kelsey Plum was all smiles in the video above, she’s been going through a difficult period as she’s splitting from her husband, Darren Waller.
The 29-year-old confirmed that she and the NFL tight end were going through a divorce earlier this month.
“The offseason’s been tough for me,” she told FOX5 reporter Paloma Villicana in an interview. “I’m sure, everyone knows, it’s pretty public, but for me, I’m super-grateful. I think my faith has grown tremendously. And not just that but I know who I am, and like, you kind of get refined by fire.”
Plum and Waller tied the knot just over a year ago. While it’s disappointing to have to split up so soon, the guard says she’s focused on trying to win back-to-back titles with the Aces.
