Before Brittney Griner became one of the most dominant players in the WNBA, she was a star member of the Baylor Bears women’s basketball team as she led them to the 2012 national title under former head coach Kim Mulkey.
Griner and Mulkey spent four seasons together at Baylor, and you would think they would have a good relationship from their time together.
On Monday, a reporter asked Mulkey her thoughts on the Brittney Griner situation, saying “I don’t think I’ve seen anything from you on that.”
Mulkey stated rather bluntly “and you won’t,” declining to comment on her former player’s tragic situation.
Cold response.

United States President Joe Biden has said Griner is being “wrongfully detained.”
Diplomats for Russia and the US have reportedly discussed a prisoner swap to bring Griner and fellow American Paul Whelan home in exchange for the release of convicted arms dealer Viktor Bout.
The No. 1 overall pick in the 2013 WNBA Draft, Griner is a seven-time All-Star and two-time Defensive Player of the Year with career averages of 17.7 points, 7.6 rebounds and 2.8 blocks in 254 games.
