WNBA star Brittney Griner survived nearly 10 months of captivity in Russia as the U.S. completed a trade to free her for a very dangerous guy who is ready to get back to work. Viktor Bout was freed last week from a 25-year US prison sentence in swap for basketball star Brittney Griner.
Since his release, Bout has joined the ultranationalist Liberal Democratic Party.
“According to a report from Reuters, Viktor Bout has already a Russian extremist group called the Kremlin-loyal ultranationalist Liberal Democratic Part. The party holds to “a hardline, ultranationalist ideology, demanding Russia reconquer the countries of the former Soviet Union,” The Comeback writes.
Not only that, he has praised his country’s invasion of Ukraine and said it should have happened earlier.
“To be honest, I couldn’t even understand why we did not do it earlier,” he said Saturday on RT. “Why in 2014, you know, there were demonstrations in Kharkiv, people were carrying enormous tricolors and shouting, ‘Russia, Russia, Russia,’ in Donbas and Odesa, as well, you know!”
He added: “Yes, clearly the conditions were not right and we were not ready, but I would have supported it wholeheartedly.”

Bout later told host Maria Butina that if he “had the opportunity and necessary skills” he “would have gone” joined the fighting as a volunteer. In that same interview, Bout claimed Western countries, including the U.S., were seeking to “destroy” and “divide” Russia.
As for Griner, Bout said he “wished her luck” following their prisoner swap in Abu Dhabi. The Russian, who is dubbed the “Merchant of Death,” was previously convicted of arms trafficking, conspiring to kill Americans, and money laundering.
Griner was convicted by a Russian court of carrying vape cartridges containing cannabis oil in Russia, where cannabis is banned.
