Brittney Griner is back home in America after she was detained and convicted of drug charges in Russia. The WNBA star knew missing an entire year of playing basketball would be a struggle as she made her way back, but she isn’t showing signs of rust.
Griner made her regular season return last month and she scored 18 points, grabbed six rebounds, and blocked four shots in her first regular season game since being jailed in Russia for nearly 10 months.
The team lost the game, but it was clear Griner was back to being a problem on the court.
In three games so far this season, Griner has racked up 21.3 points, eight rebounds, and 3.7 blocks per game.

Griner was arrested in February 2022 at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport after authorities discovered vape canisters with cannabis oil in her luggage.
Her Russian detainment ended in December after the Biden administration agreed to exchange Griner for convicted Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout.
Her comments about the National Anthem have since changed as she was viewed as standing for it upon her return to the court. Losing freedom can change views of anybody.
As for her Mercury team, they are just 1-2 to start the season. The team needs more time to jell well together before stringing together some wins.
