Brittney Griner has been free for over a year now, having been released from a Russian prison in December of 2022. And she certainly has the look of someone who’s been living in a place she’s chosen to live in.
The WNBA star was treated to one of the highest honors a former college athlete can be treated to this Sunday as she returned to Baylor to see her No. 42 jersey retired.
It was a special and emotional day for the Phoenix Mercury center, during which she was seen wearing a Baylor varsity jacket in a video that has gone viral online.
“Brittney Griner is looking healthy and motivated after reaching a year since being free from Russian detainment. You almost can’t recognize her with her new hair,” an X user wrote as the caption to another video shown below.
Brittney experienced quite an ordeal after being arrested at a Russian airport on drug smuggling charges after vape cartridges containing hash oil were found in one of her bags.
