Just horrible news for Brittney Griner on Monday.
130 days after Brittney Griner was arrested at a Russian airport, the WNBA star reportedly appeared in court Monday for a preliminary hearing ahead of her trial.
It would soon be revealed that her stay in Russiaould be extended for another six months.
A Russian court set July 1st as the start date for her trial.

According to the Associated Press, fewer than 1% of defendants are acquitted in the country. And unlike in the United States, acquittals can be overturned.
The U.S. State Department has classified the Griner situation as a wrongful detainment. She’s been in Russian custody since February at a Moscow airport on accusations of attempted drug smuggling.
Griner was named an honorary WNBA All-Star game starter last week, with the All-Star game scheduled to take place on July 10 in Chicago.
