The NBA Finals may have wrapped, but the offseason is where teams truly build their championship dreams.  Free agency, trades, and the draft are all on the horizon,

But before the fireworks begin, there are strict rules that needs to be followed. Here's a quick guide to the NBA offseason's rule.

According to new rule, teams may negotiate with their own upcoming free agents the day after the final game of the NBA Finals. The deadline is set for June 30.

New NBA Free Agency Rule

- Negotiate with team's own free agents: This includes unrestricted free agents (UFAs) who can sign with any team and restricted free agents (RFAs).

What Is Allowed?

- Discuss extensions with existing players: If a player is eligible for a rookie extension, teams can begin negotiating a new contract before free agency opens.

What Is Allowed?

- Negotiate with a player on team's roster that is veteran extension eligible as of July 6.

What Is Allowed?

- Negotiate with a free agent not on team's roster. A team can begin negotiating at 6 PM ET on June 30.

What Is NOT Allowed?

- Announce publicly that a team and free agent have reached an agreement. The first allowable ate is July 6 at 12:01 PM ET.

What Is NOT Allowed?

- Violation of rules. In case of not following the guidelines, a team can be punished with a $2 million fine, forfeiture of draft picks.
