An XFL team has parted ways with its head coach following the league’s first season back.
The spring football league actually completed the season this time around after its second attempt was cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic, naming its first champions (the Arlington Renegades), but it wasn’t without its negatives.
Rod Woodson, one of the best defensive backs in NFL history, is set to walk away from the Vegas, with the parties said to have mutually agreed to sever ties.
“After speaking with my family and members of the football operations team, we decided it was in our mutual interest for me to step away from the team,” Woodson was quoted as saying.
“I would like to thank everyone at the League and wish them continued success as they enter season two.”

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, now runs the league alongside his ex-wife and business partner Dany Garcia, having taken over from former WWE boss Vince McMahon.
While $60 million is a lot of money to lose, Johnson remains confident the XFL will end up being successful as he’s responded to the criticism, pointing out he’s playing the long game.
“I’ve tried to tell him his whole life but he’s never listened to me,” he tweeted sarcastically after catching wind of the report.
The XFL is projected to recoup the lost funds in 2024 as it’s claimed it could make at least $100 million in its second season under Johnson’s ownership.
