The XFL hasn’t been back that long, with its third week kicking off this weekend, but drama already abounds.
The Orlando Guardians cut quarterback Quinten Dormady this Thursday over claims he was sharing plays from the team’s playbook. But the QB was recalled to the side just a day later, with XFL VP of communications Jeff Altstader announcing the reversal while citing additional information received.
It appears Dormady will remain with the Guardians at least until the investigation is concluded.
“The league is actively reviewing a personnel issue regarding a player on the Orlando Guardians who was released from the team yesterday afternoon,” Altstader said in a statement issued to Fox News.
“Additional information on the situation was brought to the attention of the league overnight, and the league has reinstated the player while it conducts a formal investigation into the issue. The situation is under review, and we will share more details regarding the findings as appropriate.”
The Guardians are one of three teams with an 0-2 record in the league’s return campaign and are bottom of the XFL South, so there could be some credence to the notion regarding their plays.

Dormady, meanwhile, played football for three different schools as part of a five-year college career. He recorded 1,282 yards and seven touchdowns at Tennessee between 2015-17, later transferring to Houston, where he hardly played.
He then moved to Central Michigan, impressing in their uniform with 2,312 yards and 14 touchdowns in his final season with the program.
The Guardians have been the XFL outfit most in the news for less than positive reasons. Last weekend, their head coach Terrell Buckley threw the entire team under the bus after a loss to the San Antonio Brahmas.
