The XFL has announced the venue for its championship game later this year following the league’s debut over the weekend.
Football fans are pretty excited over this novel option, given that the NFL is done until September. And, after what they saw during the opening games, they’re looking forward to more.
The XFL was WWE chairman Vince McMahon’s brainchild but he’s since sold it to The Rock and his ex-wife and business partner Dany Garcia following two failed attempts to really get it off the ground. Fans will be hoping it’s here to stay this time around.
It’s since been revealed that the league’s first championship game will take place at San Antonio’s Alamodome, with Garcia explaining why. You could check it out in the video below.
San Antonio does not have a team in the NFL; the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Texans have Texas covered. But they do have an XFL team, the Brahmas, who lost their opening game at home in a wild finish against the St. Louis Battlehawks, having led by 15 with just 90 seconds left in the fourth quarter.
They play their second game this Sunday away to the Orlando Guardians.
