The Houston Roughnecks are having a rough year after the XFL and USFL merged to form one spring football league.
On Sunday, the Houston Roughnecks were at home at TDECU Stadium to take on the Michigan Panthers.
The Houston Roughnecks, who were hosting the Michigan Panthers, the second-seeded team in the USFL Conference, fought hard all the way to the end of the game but ultimately lost 26–22, their last home game of 2024.
The most memorable part of the game was a mic-up moment between the center and the Roughnecks’ starting quarterback.
Sunday’s game at TDECU Stadium was a scorcher. Temperatures swelled in the mid-90s with about 60% humidity. Wearing a ton of football gear does not make playing in that type of weather any easier.
To help players deal with the heat, Houston staff had trainers going to each player and dousing them with a cold sponge.

Houston Roughnecks center Jack Kramer took it a step further by having a trainer soak his butt with the sponge, but in doing so, it added to the sweat he already had that had accumulated during the game.

Quarterback Nolan Henderson certainly felt it as he had to put his hands under there to receive the ball.
On the sidelines, Kramer went to Henderson and stated he was not that sweaty and explained why his butt was so moist.
Houston Roughnecks Are Tied For The Worst Record In The League
In 2020, the Houston Roughnecks were undefeated and likely headed to greatness during the second iteration of the XFL. However, the global pandemic would shut the world down, and the league would fold before the end of the season.
In 2024, the Roughnecks are tied for the worst record in the league as they hold a 1-8 record alongside the Memphis Showboats, per TheUFL.com.
The Roughnecks have played hard in several games that could’ve gone either way, but ultimately, their record is their record.
