Dallas Cowboys fans who are following the relaunched XFL better get used to some savage roasts towards their beloved football team.
On Saturday, the Arlington Renegades defeated the Vegas Vipers 22-20 in the first game of the 2023 season. The Renegades, play in the city which is the home of the Cowboys’ home venue, AT&T Stadium.
And so, when William Joy of WFAA in Dallas had the chance to throw shade at the Cowboys, he didn’t hold back. While talking about the Renegades game, Joy stated, “I think people are just excited to have a team in Arlington that actually plays football games in Arlington.”
The Cowboys won three Super Bowls over a four-year span from 1992 to 1995. But the once-proud organization hasn’t played in the NFC Championship Game since they last won the Super Bowl 27 seasons ago.
Dallas has had some close calls over the years in breaking that drought. They lost close one-score games in the 2007, 2014, 2016, 2018 and 2022 NFC Divisional Rounds, but were ultimately unable to sneak back into the the final four.
The Cowboys finished 12-5 in the regular season and sent Tom Brady into retirement with a 31-14 road win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Wild Card Weekend. Dallas, however, fell 19-12 to the rival San Francisco 49ers in the Divisional Round which kept their painful Super Bowl drought going.
