The XFL relaunched in 2020 following a 19-year absence. The season was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic, and league founder Vince McMahon was preparing to put it up for sale at an auction.
But WWE legend-turned-actor Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and business partner Dany Garcia teamed up with RedBird Capital Partners founder Gerry Cardinale to purchase the league before it went to auction.
The XFL consists of eight teams and will have a 10-week regular season league, with the postseason beginning on Apr. 29-30.
