A former college quarterback of the Clemson Tigers is taking his talents to another professional football league. Former Clemson quarterback Kelly Bryant has signed with the Arlington Renegades, the league announced on Monday.
It was reported last week Bryant was among a group of 50 trialists for WWE from a crop of former college and professional athletes in other sports. However, he decided to go sign a deal with the Renegades after a knee injury to quarterback Drew Plitt. He is being moved to injured reserve along with linebacker Edmond Robinson.
Bryant spent four years with Clemson before his 2019 transfer to Missouri. Bryant backed up Deshaun Watson in 2015 and 2016 as the Tigers reached the national title games on both occasions. In his lone season as Clemson’s full-time starter, Bryant threw for 2,802 yards and 13 touchdowns against eight interceptions.
Bryant ultimately lost the job to then-true freshman Trevor Lawrence in 2018 before his decision to transfer. He threw for 2,215 yards and 15 touchdowns against six interceptions in his lone season at Missouri, appearing in 10 games.
After he went undrafted, Bryant landed a deal with CFL’s Toronto Argonauts in 2021 but never saw playing time before he got released. Bryant played in the Fan-Controlled Football League last year.
