Former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick has two options at his disposal as it pertains to a return to football.
Kaepernick, who hasn’t played a competitive game since the 2016/17 season, is keen on returning to the NFL and has sought opportunities to do so, with his latest attempt coming in the form of a letter requesting a chance with the New York Jets following the injury to Aaron Rodgers.
Nothing has materialized so far. Still, there are options elsewhere, with the XFL having offered him an invite.
The Rock revealed as much this week, though he expressed doubt that Kap will take him up on his offer.
“We met with Kap and his agents (whom I like a lot) earlier this year,” the former WWE star wrote on Instagram. “Good meeting, looked to create opportunity for him but I don’t think it’ll happen. We’ll see.”
The XFL recently announced it will be merging with the USFL, which is huge. And Kap could benefit from playing at least one season there.

But, if he doesn’t want to play in the CFL, Canada’s CFL has also emerged as an option. According to TSN, the BC Lions have added the quarterback to their negotiation list.
That hardly means Kaepernick will be playing in the Canadian league but, should he opt to, the Lions will be the only team he would be permitted to negotiate with.
