Could Colin Kaepernick be taken his talents to the XFL? He just might do so.
A spokesperson for the XFL reported to Sporting news that the league had been in contract discussions with the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback.
The XFL declined to divulge details of the Kaepernick contract talks. But sources said the former 49ers quarterback wanted at least $20 million to suit up for new spring football league. Mark Geragos, Kaepernick’s attorney, did not return an email from SN seeking comment.
If the restart of the league wants to gain a bunch of attention for the second installment of the popular football league, then added a top name like Kaepernick is how you do it.
This XFL report comes on the heels of the revelation that the AAF reached out to Kaepernick as well about playing, and an unfounded report that he demanded $20 million to play for the new league.
WWE tycoon Vince McMahon is expected to sign its first wave of players during the first quarter of 2019.
Kaepernick recently settled his collusion case against the NFL, so he likely knows any chance of him making it back to the league are officially done. The public will likely never know it since their negotiations were sealed.
