AJ McCarron had an emotional interview on ESPN after an improbable victory on Sunday.
The former Alabama Crimson Tide and NFL QB led his XFL team to a win, throwing the game-winning touchdown pass. Immediately following the game, McCarron couldn’t contain his emotions when being interviewed by ESPN.
The St. Louis Battlehawks were down 15-3 with about three minutes to go and they somehow pulled out the win all thanks to A.J. McCarron marching his team down the field and finding former Eagles receiver Hakeem Butler for an 18-yard touchdown. He then connected with Austin Proehl for a three-point conversion to cut the league to 15-12.
While down 3, the Battlehawks had the option of an onside kick or running a play from their own 25 that would be considered 4th and 15. The 4th and 15 was converted, and the Battlehawks subsequently went on to win the game.
McCarron last played in the NFL in 2021, which he spent with the Atlanta Falcons. He was on IR after tearing his ACL in Week 2 of the preseason. After being drafted in 2014, he spent time as a backup with the Bengals, Raiders, and Texans.
