The US Open is in full swing, but a familiar aroma is becoming quite apparent on one of the main courts.
According to several players, court 17 at the event is becoming infamous for a strong smell of weed in the area. As the matches play out, the strong scent of weed is billowing onto the courts, eliciting a visceral reaction from players.
It should be noted that the US Open is being played in New York City, where marijuana is legal, but there are a number of theories to where the skunky odor is coming from. Some believe its coming from the nearby and aptly named Corona Park, some think it could be someone in the stands. The smell of it was even noted by players while practicing.
The court in question is still hosting matches, as 28th ranked Christopher Eubanks faces of against Benjamin Bonzi. It is unknown whether the two have experienced the weed smell.
The tournament is currently in it’s 9th day, and runs from August 22nd to September 10th. Many of the top tennis players in the world have gathered in New York for the even and a chance to win the 4th and final grand slam tournament of the year, with $65 million in prize money up for grabs.

It’s unknown to whether the smell is even weed, but that may be unknown until someone checks concession sales.
