Serena Williams has delivered a stinging response to the people who have been speculating over her possibly bleaching her skin.
The tennis icon was accused of intentionally lightening her skin after a video of her attending an event for her daughter went viral recently. Williams did appear to have a lighter skin tone, which led to certain users on social media making the claim cited above.
The 43-year-old has since denied this, taking to Instagram to share her skincare and makeup routine. While streaming, she addressed the accusations, explaining the reason behind her lighter tone and insisting she loves her dark skin color.

“Yes, I’m calling you out on this because it’s ridiculous that everyone’s like ‘Oh, she bleaches skin.’ I am a dark Black woman and I love who I am and love how I look, and that’s just not my thing.”

Serena Williams Has Had A Rough Time These Last Few Months
The 23-time Grand Slam singles winner added that she doesn’t have issues with anyone who chooses to bleach their skin; she just isn’t one of them.
Serena took time to address this even though she’s had way more important things to deal with over the last two months, having undergone surgery to remove a mass from her neck in October. Fortunately, it was a benign cyst.
Her husband, Alexis Ohanian, also went under the knife recently, revealing on Thanksgiving that he had half of his thyroid removed.
