I guess we have a short memory in sports when it comes to fans jumping on the field of play.
The greatest scandal in the history of tennis happened in 1993 when Monica Seles was stabbed on a courtside changeover by a deranged fan. That caused a half-inch wound between spine and left shoulder blade that called for surgery.
Something terrible could’ve happened today, but luckily, it appears a fan just wanted to take a picture.
During a match at the US open, a female fan could be seen jumping from the stands and taking a selfie while a player was seated underneath an umbrella. A security guard was right there and did absolutely nothing as the woman got her picture and then returned to her seat.
