Trevor Bauer played college baseball at the University of California, Los Angeles before he was drafted third overall by the Arizona Diamondbacks. He clashed with his teammates and was traded to the Cleveland Indians in 2012. By 2016 he was a regular pitcher in their starting rotation but suffered a few injuries after that caused him to struggle. In his 2020 season, he was able to improve and won the Cy Young Award.
In 2020 he signed a three-year contract with the Dodgers and led the league in both strikeouts and innings pitched. The MLB imposed an administrative leave on him after they had to investigate sexual assault allegations made against him. The league suspended Bauer for 194 games, and the Dodgers released him on January 12, 2023.
