Trent Williams played college football for the University of Oklahoma from 2006-2009 where he was recognized as an All-American. He was drafted fourth overall by the Washington Redskins for the 2010 NFL Draft. Trent Williams contract was a six-year, $60 million rookie deal. In his sophomore season in the NFL he was named an offensive-co-captain of the Redskins (now the Washington Commanders). That same season he was suspended for four games after failing several drug tests. In 2015, he lost roughly 30 pounds, going from 345 to 318, and Washington decided to extend his contract to a five-year, $66 million deal with $43.25 guaranteed. In April of 2019, Williams had a surgical procedure to remove a growth on his head that turned out to be cancerous dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP). Williams reported that Washington’s medical staff downplayed the growth, and he demanded to be released or traded. In 2020, he was traded to the San Francisco 49ers. He signed a six-year, $138.06 million extension with the 49ers, making him the highest-paid offensive lineman in the NFL.
