Tim was selected by the Broncos in the first round if the 2010 NFL Draft. He finished his 2011 season with the lowest passing completion rate in the NFL. The Broncos decided to sign free agent Peyton Manning in 2012 and subsequently traded Tebow to the New York Jets. He was released from the Jets in April of 2013 after only throwing eight passes. The New England Patriots signed him in 2013, but he was released in August of that same year.
In 2015, Tebow signed a one-year contract with the Philadelphia Eagles, but he was released again by the team following the fourth preseason game. After spending six years not playing football, Tebow reached out to his former college coach, Urban Meyer, about returning to the sport. He signed him as a tight end to the Jaguars in 2021 but later released him in August.
Tim signed a minor league baseball contract with the New York Mets in 2016 and participated in the Mets’ instructional league. He was invited to the Mets’ major league camp in 2018, and they promoted him to their Double-A team. After playing for a few teams in different divisions, he formally retired in 2021.
