Nick Saban was born on October 31, 1951, in Fairmont, West Virginia. He attended Kent State University, where he played defensive back for the football team. After graduation, he began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Kent State before moving on to coach at several other universities.
In 1995, Saban became the head coach at Michigan State University, where he led the team to a 9-2 record in his second season. He then moved on to Louisiana State University, where he won a national championship in 2003. He later coached at the Miami Dolphins for two seasons before returning to college football as the head coach of the University of Alabama in 2007.
Since joining the Crimson Tide, Saban has led the team to six national championships, including back-to-back titles in 2011 and 2012, and again in 2015 and 2016.
During the 2017 season, the team started as the top-ranked team in the AP and Coaches Poll for the second year in a row.
