Leonard Fournette is an American professional football player who currently plays as a running back for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the National Football League. He was born on January 18, 1995, in New Orleans, Louisiana, and attended St. Augustine High School, where he became one of the top high school football players in the country. Fournette went on to play college football at Louisiana State University (LSU) from 2014 to 2016. During his time at LSU, he was a two-time consensus All-American and was twice named the SEC Offensive Player of the Year. In 2015, he finished sixth in Heisman Trophy voting, and in 2016, he helped lead the Tigers to a Citrus Bowl victory over the Louisville Cardinals.
In the 2017 NFL Draft, Fournette was selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars with the fourth overall pick. He played for the Jaguars for three seasons, rushing for 2,631 yards and 17 touchdowns in 36 games. In 2019, he helped lead the team to the AFC Championship Game, where they lost to the New England Patriots.
After being released by the Jaguars in 2020, Fournette signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In his first season with the team, he played a key role in their Super Bowl LV victory over the Kansas City Chiefs, rushing for 135 yards and scoring a touchdown in the championship game.
