During his college career, he was named a first-team All-Big 12 selection twice and a second-team All-American once.
In the 2013 NFL Draft, Johnson was selected by the Philadelphia Eagles with the fourth overall pick. He quickly established himself as a key player on the team’s offensive line, starting in all 16 games during his rookie season. He has since become one of the best offensive tackles in the NFL, earning three Pro Bowl selections and one First-Team All-Pro selection.
In 2014, Johnson missed the first four games of the season due to testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs, but he allowed only one sack in the remaining games and was graded as the second-best right tackle.

In 2019, he signed a four-year, $72 million contract extension with the Eagles, making him the highest-paid offensive lineman in the NFL at that time. Johnson set an NFL record in 2022 by not allowing a sack in 26 consecutive games.
Off the field, Johnson is known for his charitable work, particularly his support of the Uplifting Athletes organization, which raises money and awareness for rare diseases. He is also a fan of the outdoors and enjoys hunting and fishing in his spare time.
