Despite Murray’s love of football, Kyler was selected in the first round of the 2018 MLB draft by the Oakland Athletics. He signed a contract with them that included a $4.66 million signing bonus. He told the Athletics that he would finish his football season and enter spring training in the spring. But after he was awarded the Heisman trophy his junior year at Oklahoma, Murray decided to enter the 2019 NFL Draft instead.

In his first year with the Cardinals, he was named the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. Since then he has also been decorated as a two-time Pro-Bowler. The Cardinals decided to pick up the fifth-year option on Murray’s contract and he signed a five-year, $230.5 million contract extension, with $160 million guaranteed. He holds the Cardinals franchise records of most passing yards by a rookie with 3,722, the lowest interception percentage in a career of 2.1%, as well as the highest completion percentage in a career with 66.8%.
