Julio Jones played college football for the University of Alabama and was named SEC Freshman of the Year in 2008. In 2011, Jones was selected sixth overall in the NFL Draft by the Atlanta Falcons. His rookie contract was a four-year, $16.2 million deal, all of which was guaranteed. In 2015, the Falcons signed Jones again to a five-year, $71.5 million contract extension. He helped bring them to NFC Champions and a Super Bowl appearance in the 2016 season, but the team ultimately lost to the Patriots in one of the largest comebacks in Super Bowl history. He signed another contract extension in 2019 worth $66 million, but was plagued by injury in 2020, only playing 9 out of 16 games. He was traded to the Tennessee Titans in 2021 and was released and picked up by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2022.
