Juan Soto signed with the Washington Nationals in 2015 at the age of 16 as an international free agent. He started out his career with the rookie-level Gulf Coast League. After a few years in the minors, he made his major-league debut in 2018 with the Nationals, becoming the youngest player in the major leagues at 19 years old, 207 days. He became the NL Rookie of the Year runner-up, and in 2019 he helped lead the Nationals to their first World Series championship. In 2020, despite missing the first week of play due to COVID-19, Soto became the youngest player in National League history to win the batting title, hitting .351. In 2022, Soto was traded to the Padres.
