Josh Rosen is an American professional football player and quarterback in the National Football League (NFL) who is currently a free agent. Rosen was a former UCLA quarterback and was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals as the 10th overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. He has also played for the Miami Dolphins, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, San Francisco 49ers, Atlanta Falcons, and was briefly signed by the Cleveland Browns and Minnesota Vikings practice squads. Josh Rosen was born on February 10, 1997, in Manhattan Beach, California. He attended St. John Bosco High School in Bellflower, California, where he was a standout quarterback and a five-star recruit. After graduating high school, Rosen attended the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where he played college football for three seasons. During his time at UCLA, he set numerous school records and was widely regarded as one of the top quarterback prospects in the country.
In 2018, Rosen was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals in the first round of the NFL Draft, 10th overall. Rosen played his rookie season with the Cardinals, starting 13 games and throwing for 2,278 yards and 11 touchdowns. However, he struggled with injuries and was eventually traded to the Miami Dolphins in 2019. Rosen played sparingly with the Dolphins in 2019, appearing in six games and throwing for 567 yards and one touchdown. He was released by the Dolphins in 2020 and signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but was waived shortly thereafter.
Rosen signed with the Atlanta Falcons in August 2021 as their second-string quarterback. He made three relief appearances throughout the season but was unable to secure a win for the team. Rosen was then signed by the Cleveland Browns in July 2022 but was terminated and signed to the practice squad before being released in October. He was then signed to the Minnesota Vikings practice squad in December 2022.
Despite his rocky start in the NFL, Rosen is still regarded as a talented quarterback with a strong arm and good accuracy. He has shown flashes of brilliance on the field and has the potential to become a successful starter in the league.
