Josh McDaniels is an American football coach who is currently the head coach for the Las Vegas Raiders of the National Football League (NFL). Josh McDaniels was born on April 22, 1976, in Barberton, Ohio, USA. McDaniels graduated from Canton McKinley High School in Canton, Ohio, where he played quarterback. He then attended John Carroll University, where he played wide receiver before joining the coaching staff as a graduate assistant.
In 2001, McDaniels began his NFL coaching career as a personnel assistant with the New England Patriots. He quickly rose through the ranks and was eventually named the team’s offensive coordinator in 2006. As offensive coordinator, McDaniels helped lead the Patriots to three Super Bowl victories and was instrumental in the development of quarterback Tom Brady.
McDaniels left the Patriots in 2009 to become the head coach of the Denver Broncos. However, he was fired midway through his second season with the team after posting a 3-9 record.
Josh McDaniels then served as the offensive coordinator for the St. Louis Rams in 2011 before returning to the New England Patriots as an offensive assistant coach and replacing Bill O’Brien as offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach for the 2012 season. McDaniels was a part of the Patriots’ championship teams in Super Bowl XLIX and Super Bowl LI as their offensive coordinator, and also won another Super Bowl as an offensive coordinator in 2018.
