Born on September 25, 1971, in Hinsdale, Illinois, John Lynch attended Stanford University and played college football for the Cardinal. He was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the third round of the 1993 NFL Draft and played for the team for 11 seasons. During his time with the Buccaneers, he was named to the Pro Bowl six times and was a three-time First-Team All-Pro selection. Lynch was also a key member of the Buccaneers’ Super Bowl XXXVII championship team in 2002.
After his playing career ended, Lynch began a career in broadcasting as a color commentator for NFL games on Fox. He later transitioned into an executive role in the NFL, first serving as the General Manager of the San Francisco 49ers in 2017. In 2021, he was hired as the General Manager of the Denver Broncos.
Off the field, Lynch is known for his philanthropic work, particularly with his Lynch Family Foundation, which focuses on supporting children and families in need. He is also a devout Christian and has spoken publicly about the role his faith plays in his life.
