Jake Fromm is a professional American football quarterback for the Washington Commanders who was born on July 30, 1998, in Warner Robins, Georgia. Fromm is best known for his time as a college football player at the University of Georgia, where he was the starting quarterback for three seasons from 2017 to 2019. During his time at Georgia, Fromm led the team to three consecutive SEC Championship games and a berth in the College Football Playoff National Championship game in 2017. He finished his college career with 8,236 passing yards, 78 touchdowns, and only 18 interceptions, earning multiple All-SEC and All-American honors along the way.
After foregoing his senior season at Georgia, Fromm was selected in the fifth round of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Buffalo Bills signed a four-year contract worth $3.771 million. He served as the team’s third-string quarterback for most of his rookie season, appearing in just one game and completing one pass for 12 yards. He was released from the Bills in August 2021, but was re-signed to their practice squad the following day.
Fromm was signed by the New York Giants in November 2021, and played in his first game with them in December. He finished the season with 27 completions for 210 yards, a touchdown, and three interceptions. Fromm became a free agent after being non-tendered by the Giants in March 2022 and later signed with the Washington Commanders’ practice squad in October 2022, before signing a reserve/future contract with them in January 2023.
Fromm is known for his strong arm, accuracy, and ability to read defenses. He is also regarded as a high character individual, having earned academic honors and being actively involved in community service initiatives throughout his college career.
