Kittle played for the University of Iowa football program from 2012–2016 where he was considered to be a top tight-end prospect for the NFL. He finished in the top 10 tight ends at the NFL Combine, and in the 2017 NFL Draft, he was chosen as the 146th overall pick by the San Francisco 49ers. George Kittle’s contract with the 49ers was a four-year $2.69 million contract that included a $298,287 sign-on bonus. Kittle helped bring the 49ers to Super Bowl 54, where they ultimately lost to the Kansas City Chiefs. In 2020, Kittle signed a five-year $75 million contract with the 49ers with an $18 million signing bonus, which made him the highest-paid tight end in the league. He currently holds the record for the most receiving yards in a half by a tight end with 210.

George Kittle’s wife is Claire Kittle. The two met during their freshman year at the University of Iowa. In high school she was a great athlete, garnering all-state selection for track and field twice. At University, she earned a bachelor’s degree in health and human physiology. She played for the Iowa women’s basketball team and worked as a Physical Therapy Assistant for local clinics. George proposed to Claire in 2018, and the two married in a small ceremony at a friend’s jewelry store a year later.
