Eli Apple was born on August 9, 1995, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and grew up in Voorhees, New Jersey. He attended Eastern High School, where he played football and was ranked as a four-star recruit by various scouting services.
After graduating from high school, Eli Apple attended Ohio State University, where he played college football for the Ohio State Buckeyes. He played for the Buckeyes for two seasons and was part of the 2014 National Championship team.
Eli Apple was drafted in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft by the New York Giants as the 10th overall pick. He played for the Giants for two and a half seasons before being traded to the New Orleans Saints midway through the 2018 season. Apple played for the Saints for one and a half seasons before signing with the Carolina Panthers in 2020. He played for the Panthers for one season before signing with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2021.
