Calvin Ridley is an American football wide receiver who currently plays for the Jacksonville Jaguars of the National Football League (NFL). Calvin Ridley was born on December 20, 1994, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and attended Monarch High School where he was a standout athlete in football, basketball, and track. After graduating from high school, Ridley went on to play college football at the University of Alabama. During his three seasons with the Crimson Tide, he recorded 224 receptions for 2,781 yards and 19 touchdowns, and was a key contributor to the team’s national championship victory in 2017.
In the 2018 NFL Draft, Ridley was selected by the Atlanta Falcons with the 26th overall pick. He quickly established himself as a reliable target for Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan, recording 64 receptions for 821 yards and 10 touchdowns in his rookie season.
Ridley received numerous accolades, including being named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team and earning second-team All-Pro honors in 2020. However, he announced his departure from football due to mental health reasons during the 2021 season and was later suspended indefinitely for violating the league’s gambling policy. He was traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars while serving his suspension, but was reinstated for the following year.
