Bradley Beal was named the Gatorade National Player of the Year in 2011 after averaging 32.5 points a game in his senior year of high school. He played college basketball for the University of Florida. Beal declared for the 2012 NBA draft after foregoing his final three years of college basketball eligibility. He was drafted as the third overall pick by the Washington Wizards and was unfortunately plagued by injury in his 2014-16 seasons, requiring surgery on his wrist.
Beal had his breakthrough season in 2016-17 and had his first All-Star selection in 2018. In 2021 Beal put up a career-high of 60 points against the Philadelphia 76ers. In 2022, Beal had a season-ending surgery on his left wrist and chose to decline his $36.4 million contract extension. He became a free agent and later signed a new five-year, $251 million max contract with the Wizards.
