Roethlisberger attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and redshirted his first season. He was selected 11th overall in the 2004 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers. His rookie contract was a six-year, $22.26 million deal. He earned the AP NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Award that year and became the youngest Super Bowl-winning quarterback in NFL history after leading the Steelers to a Super Bowl victory in 2006. He is considered one of the best passers in NFL history and upon retirement ranked 5th all-time in NFL career passing yards and 8th in touchdowns.
Ben Roethlisberger was in the news in 2009 for sexual assault and the case was settled outside of court in 2011. In 2010, there was another accusation when a 20-year-old college student claimed that Roethlisberger assaulted her in the bathroom at a nightclub. The case was dropped with the court sighting insufficient evidence.
