Andrew Wiggins is from Canada and played college basketball at the University of Kansas for one year before entering the NBA Draft. He was selected first overall in the 2014 NBA Draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers, making him the second Canadian ever picked as the number one draft pick.
Wiggins was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves in August of that same year and never played a single game for Cleveland. After being named NBA Rookie of the Year in the 2014-15 season, Wiggins continued to impress and he was offered a five-year, $148 million contract extension with the Timberwolves in 2017. He was traded to the Golden State Warriors in 2020 where he helped the team win a National Championship.
