Alex Bregman is a professional baseball player who currently plays as a third baseman for the Houston Astros in the Major League Baseball (MLB). Alex Bregma was born on March 30, 1994, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and grew up in a family of athletes. He attended Albuquerque Academy High School where he played baseball and was named the Gatorade New Mexico Player of the Year in his senior year. He then went on to play college baseball at Louisiana State University (LSU) where he became a standout player and earned numerous accolades, including being named the 2013 National Freshman of the Year.
Bregman was selected by the Houston Astros as the second overall pick in the 2015 MLB draft, and he quickly rose through the ranks of the Astros minor league system. He made his MLB debut in 2016 and has since become one of the Astros’ most reliable players, known for his excellent defense and clutch hitting.
Bregman has been named an All-Star twice and has won several awards, including a Silver Slugger Award and a Gold Glove Award. He was also a key player in the Astros’ 2017 World Series championship team, hitting a crucial home run in Game 5 of the series.
Bregman achieved his second World Series victory in 2022 and set new records for postseason home runs (15) and runs batted in (47) among all third basemen.
Off the field, Bregman is known for his philanthropy work, including his support for the Houston Food Bank and his own nonprofit organization, AB for Autism, which raises money and awareness for autism research. He is also an avid golfer and enjoys playing the guitar.
