The global soccer superstar had just planted his foot the wrong way before tumbling down and was forced to watch the rest of the match as his teammates tried to win the game.
Messi left the game in the 66th minute for Nicolás González with the game in a scoreless tie.
Fortunately for him, he would be smiling at the end of the contest as Argentina would come out on top 1-0 without its star forward, thanks to a goal in the second half of extra time from Lautaro Martínez, per ESPN.
