Derek Chauvin, the Minneapolis police officer who held a knee to George Floyd’s neck for about nine minutes before he died, apparently has a fan base outside of the United States.
During the Ukrainian Cup semi-final match between FC Minaj and Dynamo Kiev at Stadion Mynai, fans could be seen with a massive banner that spelled out ‘Free Derek Chauvin’ who is the police officer charged in the killing of George Floyd and who is currently being held in custody on a $1.25 million bail.
Former Minnesota police officer Chauvin has been charged with 2nd-degree murder after he was filmed with his knee on the neck of George that ultimately took his life. His death sparked global protests that are currently still going on.
