A fight among soccer players in eastern France reached disturbing levels after one player took a bite of another player’s penis, causing him to receive 10 stitches and miss four days of work.
According to Le Republicain Lorrain, the fight happened on November 17th after a 1-1 draw between Terville and Soetrich. An unidentified player from Soetrich and Terville started fighting in the parking lot, but when another player from Terville tried to step up and break it up, he got bit in the penis by the Soetrich player.
The penalties were handed down this week and the penis biting player received a 5-year suspension, while the guy who got injured was suspended six months. Director of the Mosellan football district stated the injured player was suspended because blame was “more or less shared” and that things escalated.
“The events took place after the match, in the stadium car park. There was an altercation, an escalation and things got worse.
“It’s quite rare to have sanctions of several years, there are less than 10 per year. The case was a bit saucy, but … there must have been some nasty tension, so the smiles on the disciplinary committee quickly faded.”
In addition to that, Terville was docked two points and fined 200 Euros for “failing to meet their safety obligations as hosts and for the lack of reaction from club officials.”
The two clubs play in the 2eme Division Groupe A and are scheduled to meet again on May 17.
