There is some major controversy brewing after a referee seemingly attacked a player in the Premier League.
An assistant referee allegedly elbowed Liverpool’s Andy Robertson at half-time during their Premier League draw with Arsenal and video seemingly shows him doing just that. Videos below show Robertson approaching the official, Constantine Hatzidakis, to share his anger after the half-time whistle. Robertson was furious and had to be pulled away by his teammates after receiving a yellow card for his subsequent reaction.
He seems to grab the arm of the official before the linesman appeared to elbow the defender near his jawline.
The assistant referee will not be involved in any matches while English football’s governing body investigates the incident, the body responsible for Premier League referees said in a statement.

The Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) said it would not “be appointing Constantine Hatzidakis to fixtures in any of the competition it serves whilst The FA investigates the incident involving the assistant referee and Liverpool defender Andrew Robertson at Anfield.”
Liverpool fought back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2, with Roberto Firmino scoring an 87th-minute equalizer.
After the match, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp did not give much of an update on the incident with Robertson.
“I know it happened but I didn’t watch it,” Klopp said. “If it happened the pictures will speak for themselves.”
