Fans are praying for Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola following an announcement from the club revealing the Spaniard is set for a spell on the sidelines.
Guardiola, who led City to an unprecedented treble last season, winning the Premier League, Champions League, and the FA Cup, has undergone back surgery this week after suffering from back pain for the last few weeks.
A statement from the English team reveals the Spaniard has gone home to Barcelona for the operation and will return to the touchline before the upcoming international break.
“The Manchester City boss has been suffering with severe back pain for some time lately, and flew out to Barcelona for emergency surgery performed by Dr Mireia Illueca,” the club announced on Tuesday. “The surgery was a success, and Pep will now recover and rehabilitate in Barcelona.”

Pep’s assistant, Juanma Lillo will take over while he remains away from the team.
The defending PL champions will play away at Sheffield United this weekend before they take on Fulham at home on September 2.
City got off to a winning start when the Premier League kicked off its 2023/24 season earlier this month, beating Burnley 3-0. They’ve followed that up with a 1-0 victory against Newcastle United, also beating Sevilla to win the UEFA Super Cup.
It appears the pain was a bit too much for the Spanish coach as he opted to have the surgery before the international break.
We wish him a speedy recovery.
